Injectables Dysport®

What is Dysport?

Dysport is a muscle-relaxing injectable treatment for fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes, in addition to various medical purposes. Dysport is a neurotoxin-based injectable and is comparable to Botox. Its active ingredient is derived from Clostridium Botulinum. Dysport and Botox work in virtually the same way, but some patients may prefer one product over the other based on slight variations in formula, price point, and other factors. Our Aesthetic Nurse Specialist, Jennifer Fick, will assist you in choosing between the two products based on your needs and her expertise.

How Does Dysport Work?

Dysport works by blocking nerve impulses to the muscles from the brain, which temporarily relaxes them. This causes wrinkles to smooth and soften, as many of the wrinkles around the eyes and through the forehead are caused by repetitive movement as you make various facial expressions. In addition to improving the appearance of wrinkles, Dysport has therapeutic uses for conditions such as migraines, Bruxism (grinding the teeth), or hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

How Long Does Dysport Last?

The effects of Dysport are temporary, as the body naturally metabolizes the product over time. For most patients, Dysport will last for about 4 to 6 months. You may have repeated maintenance injections to continue seeing the effects of Dysport. Some patients may see cumulative effects of repeated injections, with results lasting up to 8 to 10 months for some.

Our Approach to Dysport Treatment

The goal of Dysport injections, as well as any procedure performed at the Deschamps-Braly Clinic, is to give you a refreshed and rejuvenated yet natural-looking appearance; we pride ourselves on leaving our patients feeling like “themselves, but better.” Our Dysport injections are carefully and precisely placed to enhance your features.

Dysport for Hyperhidrosis

Excessive sweating in the underarms and palms, known as “hyperhidrosis,” can be treated with Dysport injections. Just as the product blocks the nerves to muscles responsible for wrinkles, Dysport can be used to block the nerves that trigger the production of sweat. The treatment may be useful for patients who see no relief from their excessive sweating using strong antiperspirants or other medications. The effects of Dysport for hyperhidrosis can last for 7 months to a year.
