“Delugan Meissl’s transformative take on a top surgeon’s clinic in San Francisco”

In this 2019 Wallpaper* article, writer Amy Verner takes a look at the Deschamps-Braly Clinic’s office in San Francisco’s Union Square, designed by Roman Delugan of the Vienna-based firm Delugan Meissl Associated Architects. Dr. Deschamps-Braly had been drawn to the firm after seeing its residential project House Ray1 in Vienna, and the design set out to move away from the feel of a typical medical office.

The article highlights perforated wood lamellas along the walls and ceiling that bring light into the hallway while preserving patient privacy, a natural stone and wood floor crafted by Austrian carpentry firm Cserni, blue upholstered seating, and a waiting room placed out of view of the entrance. Because Dr. Deschamps-Braly operates at a nearby hospital, the space is used mainly for consultations.
