“This San Francisco Surgeon’s Office Is Anything But Typical.”

In this 2020 Architectural Digest (AD PRO) piece, writer David Nash looks at the Deschamps-Braly Clinic of Plastic & Craniofacial Surgery in San Francisco’s Union Square, designed by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects (DMAA). The article includes interviews with DMAA co-founder Roman Delugan and project manager Diogo Teixeira.

The designers describe wood lamellae running across the floor, ceilings, and walls, fabricated in Austria by manufacturer Cserni and assembled on site. Exam rooms and the waiting area were placed toward the back of the space for patient privacy, and the team aimed to create an atmosphere calmer and warmer than a typical medical office. Dr. Deschamps-Braly also shares how he first discovered the firm through its Ray 1 penthouse project in Vienna.
