Breast augmentation is the most popular breast surgery in the world. The procedure works to increase the size, fullness, and projection of your breasts. It may also be used to improve breast symmetry (uneven breasts), the balance between the size of your breasts vs. your hips, and lift the nipples or improve breast shape. The breasts are typically augmented using implants made of silicone or saline (a saltwater solution), or fat grafting with fat taken from your own body.
A breast lift changes the shape and projection of the breasts rather than their size. Although this procedure is simply about lifting the breasts, it may also be included in an augmentation or breast reduction to improve the appearance of the breasts. A breast lift is ideal for women who have given birth, breastfed, lost a significant amount of weight, and/or developed drooping breasts (ptosis).
As one of the breast surgeries with the highest rate of patient satisfaction, breast reduction is a common procedure that can dramatically improve your quality of life if you have overly large or heavy breasts. Breast reduction can relieve symptoms such as breast pain, neck, shoulder and back pain, poor posture, under-breast rashes, and difficulty with sports and exercise.
If you have had breast augmentation surgery in the past, you may notice that over time, as your body naturally ages, the breasts and skin may change and the look and feel of your breast implants can also change. This is quite common and to be expected if your breast implants are more than 10–15 years old. There are many reasons women will seek to have breast implants from a previous breast augmentation replaced with newer implants including the fact that breast implant manufacturing technology improves continually.
Breast cancer is a traumatic and incredibly stressful time in any woman’s life. Her sense of identity, self-esteem, and femininity is often tied to how she feels about her breasts. Treatment for breast cancer often requires partial or complete breast removal, creating a defect or deformity leading many women to seek breast reconstruction to improve the appearance of their breasts.
Both men and women who are not happy with the appearance of their nipples and/or areolas (the darker skin around the nipple) can benefit from cosmetic nipple surgery. This procedure may be performed on its own but is more commonly used in conjunction with other breast procedures such as breast lift, breast reduction, mommy makeover, and surgery for enlarged male breasts (gynecomastia).
Gynecomastia (enlargement of breast tissue in men) is a very common condition affecting up to 50 percent of males. Breast enlargement can range from slightly raised or puffy nipples, all the way through to large feminine-looking breasts. Gynecomastia can create social embarrassment impacting self-esteem and confidence. Male breast reduction aims to remove any excess tissue to create a chest that is flatter and more masculine in appearance.
A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control but sometimes these methods cannot help us achieve our goals. Factors such as pregnancy, natural aging, genetic predispositions, prior surgery, and weight fluctuations may all contribute to an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging. Tummy tuck surgery (abdominoplasty) works to remove excess fat and skin and restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is flatter and firmer.
One of the most popular plastic surgery techniques, the “Mommy Makeover” is designed to address common physical issues faced by women who have been through pregnancy and breastfeeding. A catch-all phrase that refers to a combination of body contouring procedures, the Mommy Makeover may include a few, or all of the following procedures: breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, tummy tuck, liposuction, buttock augmentation, and scar revision.
Arm lift surgery, otherwise known as Brachioplasty, reshapes the upper arms by reducing excess sagging skin and pockets of excess fat, resulting in better-proportioned arm contours. An arm lift tightens and smoothes the shape of the upper arm making it ideal for any sagging of the upper arms caused by natural aging that is not alleviated with diet and exercise.
Thigh lift surgery (Thighplasty) reshapes and streamlines the thighs by reducing excess skin and in some cases excess fat, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned thigh and lower body contours. An ideal candidate for thigh lift surgery is someone who has tried to tone and tighten their thighs through diet and exercise and yet has had minimal success.
Liposuction, also known as lipectomy, lipoplasty or “lipo,” improves the body’s contours and proportions by removing stubborn or excess fat to slim and reshape specific areas. Liposuction can be performed as a surgical procedure on its own, or in conjunction with other procedures such as a Mommy Makeover or Tummy Tuck. Common areas that are ideal for liposuction include the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, arms, neck and under the chin.
Butt augmentation improves the contour, size and/or shape of the buttocks. The procedure is performed through the use of silicone buttock implants, fat grafting, liposuction, buttock lift techniques, or a combination of these approaches. Fat grafting involves the transfer of fat from one area of your body into the buttocks – sometimes referred to as a “Brazilian Butt Lift”. Buttock augmentation works to increase fullness, roundness, and projection of your butt or buttocks and improve the overall appearance of your figure.
Losing a large amount of weight should be a cause for celebration but sometimes extreme weight loss may result in excessive or loose skin in specific areas of the body such as the abdomen, back, arms, and legs. Excess skin removal or post-weight loss surgery is an umbrella term for a range of surgical procedures that remove this excess skin (AKA “deflated skin envelope”) that results from significant weight loss, the goal is to restore a more natural and aesthetically-pleasing body profile.
Scar revision is a plastic surgery procedure that aims to improve the appearance of a scar anywhere on your body. This procedure is ideal for scars resulting from trauma to the body such as childhood or facial scars or common surgeries such as cesarean birth and mastectomy but includes scars formed from any kind of accident or injury. The surgery minimizes the scar so that it blends into your skin tone and texture and essentially becomes invisible. Depending on the severity of your scar, you may also want to explore non-surgical options such as laser therapy or injections.
Male-to-female (MTF) top surgery is a general term for the feminization of the chest for transgender people who were assigned male at birth. Also known as feminizing mammaplasty or transgender breast augmentation, this surgery results in a more feminine chest appearance using breast implants and/or fat grafting to create a more feminine body contour. It is important to choose a plastic surgeon who is well-trained and experienced with breast augmentation in trans women.

Male-to-Female (MTF) body contouring AKA body feminization surgery is a group of surgical procedures that feminize body contours for trans women who feel they have not had sufficient feminization from hormonal and lifestyle changes alone. Typically using either liposuction or fat grafting, or a combination of the two, the surgery is targeted at the torso, hips, waist, and buttocks.

Female-to-male (FTM) masculinizing top surgery is an umbrella term for a cluster of gender-affirming surgical procedures that aim to masculinize the chest. The surgery removes the breast tissue to create a flat, more masculine chest appearance. When considering FTM top surgery, it is important to choose a surgeon who has the training and vast experience in gender-affirming surgery.

Female-to-male body contouring is a set of surgical procedures that are aimed at masculinizing the profile of the body to make it appear more masculine. MTF body contouring is ideal when hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has had its maximum effect but the transgender individual may still feel dysphoria about their body shape. Body contouring is performed via either liposuction or fat grafting, or a combination of the two, and targeted at the torso, hips, waist, and buttocks.
